Day 1 - Mallaig and Morar
We will meet up at Mallaig train station car park at 9:00am where adventures can pick up any kit they’ve hired and get acquainted with each other. You will also meet your expedition leader and get set up for the journey ahead. Once sorted we will jump on the 10:00 am train to Morar where we begin our expedition. Inflating boards lochside and gearing up for the journey ahead.
Today will be a 7.5 mile paddle along Loch Morar, weaving through ancient forests and islands before ending up on South Tarbet Bay for a night under the stars. Once at our camp we will get our tents set up for the night and settle in for a night truly in the middle of nowhere.
Day 2 - South Tarbet Bay to Knoydart
Once packed up as a team we will make the portage across the Tarbet with our kit, this gap is only half a mile in distance however will take some time due to moving boards and camping kit across. Once at our new launch site we will set off onto Loch Nevis between 10:00 am and 10:30am to use the remaining outflow of the tide while also catching slack water too covering a total of 5.5 miles. We should arrive at Knoydart around lunch time.
Once on Knoydart we will check into the Knoydart Bunkhouse where we will have warm showers and feel slightly more human after this epic mini expedition.
Dinner will be out at the local pub
Day 3 - Head back to Mallaig
Today we head back to Mallaig! For those wanting more of an exploration of Knoydart we will be leaving at 14:15 so it gives time to summit the local hill A’ Churuach or simply head to the local cafe for a well earned breakfast.
We will be back in Mallaig for 15:00 pm ready to part ways and head home from a truly wild Scottish expedition.
